A`s stated on the Compiled Fatwa on Family Planning by the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta’: Islam has encouraged its people to increase and populate the earth with the proviso that their quality should not be compromised. Islam is a religion to ease. Allah said in the Holy Qur’an: ” And He has not laid upon you in religion any hardship” (22:78). Family Planning in Islam concepts includes:
- A Family Planning program for Muslim communities should be anchored on the principles of non-coercion, responsible parenthood, and informed choice;
- In Islam does not refer to abortion, neither to birth control. It refers to birth or child spacing. It should be a couple’s decision.
- It really means planning the family to become a happy family because its members are worshipping ALLAH; they are in good health, with high income and with quality education, and are aware of their vital role in nation building.
- The permissibility of family planning is for the welfare of the mother and the child and for the couple to raise Saleh (goodly) children who are pious, healthy, educated, useful and well-behaved citizens.
The IEC Materials aim to raise awareness in the Bangsamoro Community the context of Family Planning in Islam compiled by the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’.
